How Do I Love Thee... Let me Count The Yamas...

You can talk positive all you want, but this does not mean that all of your life will magickly become filled with butterflies, cupcakes, n' teddybears.  The first two limbs of yoga, Yamas and Niyamas are of vital importance to a human being who truly wants to be strong.  It's not all about whether or not you can touch your toes, how well you can do chaturanga dandasana pushups, or whether or not you can get your leg behind your head in eka pada sirsasana.  It is about how you deliberately and consciously handle that which you have been given: a great and powerful mind, free will, and this precious body, which is one and the same as this earth, for you are presently embodying this sensual earthly experience. When you encounter something that you are finding to be unpleasant, uncomfortable or displeasing, it is a cue to step up to something which will grant you the opportunity to grow.  An intimate understanding of the yamas and niyamas of yoga helps us to handle thi...

The Yoga of International Love

Image
Dear friends and family, I have been having an amazing time in Australia with my lovely partner.  Such a blessing it is for me that my partner is good friends with the organisers of global "conscious" events such as the Uplift and Wanderlust festivals.  Thanks to this blessing, we had an unforgettable Cockatoo Island experience in Sydney.  Attempting to make soul-to-soul eye contact with the city folk proved as impossible there as anywhere else in the world--just saying!  Anyway, the organisers just had a wonderful event in Rishikesh for world water day [check it out on www.upliftconnect.com ] .....Rishikesh is THE SPOT in India I would love to visit, however I have not yet arrived at a spot in my life where I have a student base that I can take on retreats.  Funny that I am a yogini and have never been to India, eh?   I am not a fitness instructor... I am here to inspire true pure health and enlightenment, in a world where careers and bank accounts are mor...

My Latest Observations - AUSTRALIA UPDATE

World peace is possible, but each of us are required to give birth to it.  Breathe life into the world that is you, through right conduct, recovering your power-- your true self.  When we can embody truth, we can positivly impact our community.  However, in the process, we must understand that which we call "drama".   Life is full of struggles, however we often tend to focus in on when these struggles are poorly handled, and call it "drama".  No. Grumpy Kat says "NO"!  This is an unconstructive dead end dispute.   Drama is necessary for human progress.  This is why it is so easy for us to rationalise and readily defend the importance in the creative consciousness outpourings of others, known as theater, cinema, and books.  We are placing our own stories on the backburner in favor of other people's mental products.   We are hindering our own ability to tap into the innate revelatory and powerful psychic potential locked within each of u...

Yoga is Yoga

Image
Yoga is yoga.  No matter what name any one person decides to assign to the asana practice they chose to share, please understand an individual who is inspired to create their own form of yogasana* is coming from a place of limited (not infinite) understanding on the conceptual scope and depth of yoga.  This is not necessarily bad.  It is, however an act and commitment to selling a physically focused specialisation, which constricts the potentials of humanity to the physiological world.  This focus swells the idea of flexibility and fancy workout clothes to the point of it appearing (especially to the beginner) to be a central focus.  This branding of this largely underestimated sacred beast is in its nature a distortion in yoga's unification message.   When you find the yoga practice that is fully appropriate for your wellbeing, you have found your teacher---you  will have found your self.  *yogasana- the little part of yoga that ha...

Why Don't I have My Own Studio Location Yet?

Dear (yoga studio), I have enjoyed what free time I have been able to spend at the (yoga studio) and find all the teachers I have come into contact with absolutely lovely, so anatomically knowledgeable and alignment oriented.  I really appreciate the stressing of the fundamentals such as attention to exercises in fine-tuning the evenness of foot pressure through all four corners in both level one and level two classes. A little bummed out that I am yet to make it to a level 3 class. Anyways, it is always nice to be reminded of the little things and guided to better alignment in even the simplest of poses.  Always a nice and humbling reminder to know it is okay to kick it down a notch or two....  I always find it so hard to go continue paying a yoga studio AND do what the teacher is asking when my energy inspires me to move differently (take a deeper version of a pose or deviate to an entirely different one occasionally), as I have built upon my practice for over 15 ye...

Give Your Self Some Divine Service

Image
That which the personality is *actually* comprised of is seldom understood. We are not how we look, we are not what we do, we are not our habits, we are not this body, what then are we?  We are INFINITE mind/soul/consciousness/spirit, yet so often we fearfully and unwittingly intercept that infinity through the impulse to shamefully adorn the naked brilliance of our own woefully underestimated core internal divine being.  We think we do our selves a justice by clothing our Shakti (psychic power)/Self in concepts of what/who we are.  Ah, but this is how we fall victim to finite, mortal (materialistic/temporal) thought when this (that which is our very Self) is the precise nothing-thought which is vital for so-called enlightenment. So, how do we TRULY realize that which we call the "Self"? By ceasing to identify with and turn to any external for comfort or refuge. This is the so-called "ego death" so many seek.  However.  Nothing truly goes away.  Ego...

Reclaiming Yogic and Tantric Oneness

Image
A lluring Venus energy comes with the Shakti. It is black tantric dark attractiveness...  Black never TRULY meant bad, though. This is just crazy emotional hyperbole talk which has developed over time from the constraints and regulations that were imposed after rulers saw the effects of the raw power of liberated joyfully fearless lust that could be basically leveraged over the laypeople. ...So they had to make a few ad justments... Forbidding certain acts and behaviors.  Krishna = charisma Kali = black Krishna and Kali---although these names are often associated with particular gender and appearance depictions, the two are interchangeable qualities of the one personality of godhead. It is an blasphemous abomination to divide schools of thought such as Tantra and Yoga into factions. Frankly I find it ironic that this fact is not more widely understood, as it clearly goes against rational reason. I even feel a little silly having to say two different things for two practic...
